MAP 12-61-0 (Monoammonium Phosphate) has less nitrogen (12% vs 18%) but more phosphorus (61% vs 46%). MAP is acidic (pH 3.5) while DAP is slightly alkaline (pH 8.0). MAP is preferred for acidic soils and seed-row placement; DAP is preferred for alkaline soils and basal application.

DAP is best applied at planting or during the early vegetative stage when root development is critical. Apply as basal dressing before sowing, placed in the seed furrow, or band-placed 5-7cm from the seed row. Avoid placing DAP directly in contact with seeds in dry soil conditions due to free ammonia risk.
